Reactions and Reviews
Not since Courts of Honor has K/S fandom been treated to such an excellent, inspiring, erotic, fascinating, stimulating story! It has everything — a death-defying plot, well-realized characters who leap from the page straight into your imagination, as if you really knew them, and craftsmanship of the highest order It also has two characters named Ensign Butler and Ensign Sinclair, but that, of course, has nothing to do with my unbounded admiration for this one page story that will forever sit at the top of any list of K/S literature to be remembered. And...who the heck do I thank for this unique contnbution to our fandom? I laughed myself silly when I first read it. One other question. How exactly did Spock discover that I, er, I mean, Ensign Sinclair was "writing stories in her free time...very similar to what (Ensign Butler's) picture portrays?" The mind boggles. The first officer coming up behind a junior officer during lunch, as fingers are smoking over a comp pad? Can you imagine how high said junior officer would jump when a Vulcan clears his throat with disapproval? [1]
I whole-heartedly agree with Jenna that this story is the most brilliant one-page story ever written in the entire history of K/S. The witty use of the fantastic artist Butler fully integrated into this perfect story will be remembered for centuries to come.Likewise, the mere mention of the extraordinary writer Sinclair was a stroke of genius that will cause ripples throughout fandom.
This is the platinum standard by which all K/S stories shall be judged. [2]
This was a humorous story with a very clever use of words as Kirk & Spock discuss the merits of K/S. I also chuckled (aloud, I think) at the mention of 'Ensigns' Sinclair and Butler. [3]
