Fanlore talk:Chat

Is there a reason we can't leave the link to the chat up permanently, and instead of having a Fanlore Chat: OPEN vs. CLOSED, have it be MODERATED vs UNMODERATED or something? So then people will still know whether or not there's a mod available, but at the same time be able to chat with other editors if they want opinions or just to hang out or something? --Etothepii 16:02, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Seconded, with bells on. I've heard that a more permanent solution is in the works, and that's fine, but why not open up the chatroom as suggested above? I really want to be able to talk to the other people working on the wiki right now, and so far the chatroom has been open exactly once, in my timezone & while I was logged in (and I've been logged in a lot). Thirded. Talking to the other editors is something I'd like more of an opportunity to do, especially when I need input or want to go over an issue in real time. And the last few nights, it hasn't been open at all. --Seperis 16:23, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Bellaboo If there's still an interest in being able to talk to other Fanlore editors at all hours, perhaps for now we could open up another place to talk? We could use IRC chat until the Fanlore chat itself has been flexibilized.

Chat not open

The Chat page claims it's "permanently open", but my attempt to go there today gave me an error message "Sorry, we can't let you in right now The owner of this Campfire chat room has either turned off guest access, changed the guest access URL, or the maximum number of people are already in the room. If you believe this to be incorrect, please verify this with the person who invited you into the room or ask them for the new room URL." I doubt that the maximum number of people were in the room, so something else has gone wrong. Chavey (talk) 03:32, 17 April 2020 (UTC)

Hi, Chavey! Apologies - this page is out of date and the chat isn't maintained any more. However, there's now an unofficial Discord server that you would be very welcome to join to chat to other Fanlore editors! Here's an invite link: https://discord.gg/kxZTDDj

It's not moderated/run by the Fanlore committee, but members of the committee (including gardeners) do spend time on the server. --enchantedsleeper (talk) 22:52, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
