Fan Fiction Writers also known as FFW, is a multifandom fan fiction archive that had been in operation since 1996, making it one of the longest running fan fiction archives. It is owned and operated by Kaleidopy.

Fan Fiction Writers allows its writers complete control over their stories. With lenient guidelines, fandom writers are strongly encouraged to express themselves, in whatever genre they write. Such freedom gives readers a more vast selection of fandom stories.

(Members only) readers may leave reviews on their favorite stories, and writers have the opportunity to either respond or delete such reviews at will. This is done to help cut down on spamming issues.

With new ownership and the future promise of upgrading the outdated software, Efiction, FFW has decided to continue using the software to operate the archive.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the domain name wasn't renewed in time to prevent a takeover, instead of paying thousands to HugeDomains to buy back the dot com, Fan Fiction Writers has moved to dot net.

History

Fan Fiction Writers opened in 1996 after it outgrew the old geocities website - Kaleidopy's Lair. The site closed briefly in early August 2012 for financial reasons, but it reopened by mid-October of that year. In 2015, the domain name was not renewed and was quickly taken over by a domain seller. As of January 2016, the URL was for sale, but the archivist decided to take a break to deal with real life issues. July 2020, the archivist plans to open the archive again at a new URL.

As of October 2012, the website had over 1000 members, with over 700 stories archived. The four most popular fandoms represented on the archive were Kung Fu: The Legend Continues, Lancer, Lord of the Rings, and X-Men.

Content Policy

The site's main focus was on gen, het and slash fan fiction. Stories not allowed on FFW include real people (the archivist doesn't want to be sued), underage characters, involved in a sexual consensual relationship, (Simply put, these stories are nothing more than child pornography.") and "MST (Mystery Science Theater)" stories ("stories...when someone takes another's story and inserts comments throughout it. Absolutely no mocking of other writer's works will be tolerated on this website.") were excluded.[1]

Stories rated PG-13 or higher can only be accessed by site members.
