Fan Cultures is a 2002 book by aca-fan Matt Hills.
The term "aca-fan" was popularized Hills in this book. Hills ascribed different meanings to the terms aca-fan and fan-scholar and based the different use on primary interest. If the primary identity was academic, they were acafans; if it was fannish, they were fan scholars.
