They find help along the way - from the most unexpected of sources: Admiral Al Calavicci."

Part of a Series

It is the third part of the Storm Signs trilogy:

Author's Foreword

From Storm:

I can't honestly say when Iknew that there was third story in this universe. At some point, I realized Ihad amental file labeled, "Storm sequel" that had some interesting bits and pieces in it, but no coherent story to connect them all. It's only been recently that Irealized that part of the problem was that I wanted to re-edit the original story.

In my mind, the plot and characters stood on their own, but I had grown so much as an author as far as my technical skills were concerned. Then, too, Ihad learned more about the editorial process, and how to really work with an editor (thanks, my friend!) just to make a story easier to read and understand. It is, however, a fairly daunting task to not only write anew, novel-length story, but to update the previous two (not exactly short) stories to bring the quality up to speed.

Still, the right person asked at the right time with just exactly the right bribe (Thank you Hisstahl), and the less sane portion of me said, why not? *G* Still, it would never have been accomplished without ED, who pulled me back on track when Real Life distracted me from my plot, and asked me just the right questions to keep the story flowing. I can't ever begin to express how much her support counted for these long, frustrating months as I explored in nearly 200 pages a very important question.

Just how much of a coincidence is it that four of the most unique people in a fiction universe came to have their lives so thoroughly entwined?

From the online posting:

This all started with a single mental image: Jim, Blair and Simon sitting at the table in the loft, a slip of paper fluttering from Jim's fingers which said, "They know you're a sentinel. Take Blair and run."

That was three novels ago.

And more years than I want to admit to. So much has happened in that time that the back story for the stories is almost a novel in and of itself. I won't bore you with details unless you ask me for them, and I advise you to be comfy, drink in hand, when you do. It'll take a while.

Like any other project, this one would have been impossible without beta's, editors, artists, and friends who took the time to get comfy, drink in hand, and listened to me rant. I wish I could thank them all individually, but then that would fill a good sized zine by itself. There are three who must be mentioned though, because none of it would have happened without their help: saraid, who not only let me play in her Panther/Chief universe, but encouraged me and answered my endless questions; the ladies of the New England Gather who let me talk story with them when I was stuck (Man, I miss you guys), and my husband of 26 years, who even beta'd for me, as long as it wasn't the 'messy bits.'

I also want to give a special thanks to Hisstah, who asked me the right question at the right time, inspiring me to re-edit the first two stories and write the third one. I love the painting, lady, and yeah, there might be a fourth story someday. *G*
