Excalibur Log is a Star Trek: TOS anthology fanzine.

At least 3 issues were published.

Description

The editor described the zine in the second issue:

Many people have asked me about writing for "Excalibur," and what kind of material I'm looking for. If you are thinking of sending an article or story for "Excalibur, let me try to tell you what I've been trying to establish.

This zine has, and will continue to stress "ST" action, humor, technology, and adventure. We are not one of those zines who feature mushy poems, or make Spock have a romance with an emotional cantaloupe every issue. This is filler, and/or trash. Though you may not agree I personally feel there is nothing more thrilling than a good phaser battle, a fully-operational warp engine, or a witty Spock/McCoy dialogue.

If you know what I mean, and would like to send a story, review, or sci-fi related article, I'll be glad to take a look at it.

Issue 1

Excalibur Log 1 was published in 1977.

  • 3 Hundred Years Later, fiction (Star Trek: TOS/Space: 1999)
  • Anti-Matter, article
  • episode review
  • review of the Star Trek Poster Book

Reactions and Reviews: Issue 1

Excalibur Log is a thin edition, fairly good for a first try. There is a Star Trek meets Space: 1999 story which is pretty good, and article on anti-matter which is very good, and two reviews, one on the Star Trek Poster Book, the other of "Who Mourns for Adonis", ST episode. The lack of art is all too apparent. As I said before, fairly good for a first try, maybe issue issue #2 will be better.

Rating: 6 out of 10. [1]

Issue 2

Excalibur Log 2 was published in 1977 and contains 23 pages.

cover of issue #2: "Amoeba" by Larry Gipe

Artists were Larry Gipe and David Rowen.

  • Letters (actually, it's just one very short letter) (4)
  • Science: Interstellar Travel, article by David Green (3)
  • Post Star Wars Movies, Sci-fi Review by Larry Gipe (a short bit about Star Wars) (5)
  • Enterprise, article by Carl J. Frushon (6)
  • The Contribution of Films to Science Fiction, article by David Greene (7)
  • Star Trek Titles (humor) (8)
