Reactions and Reviews
1989
This is a standard K/S scenario. Goodness knows why, because it makes no sense. The idea that Kirk and Spock could start a happily-ever-after love relationship with being forced to have sex by others is psychologically unsound. Yet so many writers have done this at least once. This one also isn't especially notable from the stylistic perspective. And w^y in heaven's name does Robin have to have Kirk "almost giggling". Kirk isn't a Vulcan, but he has his own sense of dignity and that doesn't permit giggling or "almost giggling". [1]
1997
A fast paced, no-holds-barred story taking place during the "Plato's Stepchildren" episode which is one of my favorite sources for stories. This story details all the violence and sexual goings-on with Parmen and those pesky Platonians.Parmen and the gang are appropriately nasty and Kirk and Spock put up a good fight. I just loved feeling alternately repulsed by the brutality and turned on by the sexy encounters. This was particularly well portrayed.
"Pleasure flamed into his mind, and he feared going with it." What a terrific line!
I also loved that Kirk almost throws up when Philana kisses him! Even ol* Parmen tries to get in on some action, but our guys are too strong.
Passion wins out and saves the day making for a totally wonderful ending. An excellent strong story. [2]
2007
This is an old treatment of 'Plato‘s Stepchildren', but it‘s an old zine so as far as I know, this may have been a first. It explores just what might happen if Parmen and company tired of watching Kirk and Spock interact with their female crew and turned them to each other. This explores their cruelty well, but not to the extreme. We do learn in fine detail how Kirk and Spock react to their tampering. It is Kirk, of course, who recognizes the way to handle it is to give in to their direction and it produces very positive results. While these results are predictable and enjoyable, it is the ending which is different from any I‘ve read. Strange things happen when the Kironide begins having its effect on our heroes! [3]
