Esteliel began reading and soon after writing slash fanfiction in 1997, starting with The Vampire Chronicles fandom and moving through a succession of mostly anime/manga fandoms afterwards. From 2003 to the present, her main fandom has been Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion, for which she mostly writes elf slash. Her most notable work is the Anestel series, which she began to post in 2003 and which she is still working on presently. Esteliel has also written stories for Kushiel's Legacy, Swordspoint, Les Misérables and The Rai-Kirah, many of them for Yuletide.
