Elijah Wood is an American actor who is probably best known (and most important to fandom) for his portrayal of Frodo Baggins in Peter Jackson's film version of The Lord of the Rings. He has also appeared in many other films, starting at the age of eight. Many Lord of the Rings fans say they owe their participation in Fandom to Elijah. Many fans of The Faculty were LotR fans who became interested in the earlier film through the Elijah connection. Elijah fans have also become interested in and fannish about many of his other films.

Since LotR, Elijah has chosen to act mainly in independent films, including Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, 9, and The Romantics. He has started a music production label, Simian Records. Presumably through his Everything Is Illuminated castmate Eugene Hutz, Elijah met his girlfriend Pamela Racine, a member of the band Gogol Bordello, but has since said that they broke up.

In Fandom

Elijah is one of the most popular characters in Lord of the Rings Real Person Fic (Lotrips) and has been paired with every other actor in the cast in slash fanfiction, most notably Sean Astin ("SeanLijah"), Dominic Monaghan ("DomLijah"), and Orlando Bloom ("Orlijah").

On LiveJournal, not-alone has put together a documentary epic called Journey With Frodo, currently at 49 chapters, detailing Elijah's life before, during, and after filming LOTR, screencaps and discussion of Frodo's journey in the films, and fannish responses to both.
