Douglas Adams was an English author, screenwriter, and playwright who was known for his science fiction and comedy work. He remains best known, within fandom and without, for writing The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. He also wrote the Dirk Gently books, which received some renewed fan interest in 2016 when it was adapted for television by the BBC, and did some writing and editing work for Doctor Who.
