Doomguy is the fan-given moniker for the player character in the DOOM franchise. Alternately known as Doom Slayer in the recent iterations of the DOOM franchise and sometimes as Doom Marine in the fandom, he is one of the most recognizable and popular characters in video game history.

Fandom
Doomguy is one of the most popular and recognizable characters in video games and as such is a popular choice for fanart. There isn't much fanfiction for the DOOM franchise, but the release of Doom in 2016 (not to be confused with the original DOOM) caused some fans to begin shipping Doomguy, known as "Doom Slayer" in that specific iteration of the franchise, with Samuel Hayden and VEGA. Doom Slayer/Samuel Hayden is tied with Doom Slayer/VEGA as the most popular pairing in the DOOM fandom on AO3 at just over 50 works for both.[1][2] Because Doom Eternal released on the same day as Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Doomguy & Isabelle is also a common pairing in fanworks.
