Reactions and Reviews

1997

Exciting and tense beginning as we see mirror Kirk getting all stirred up when he puts Spock in the Agony Booth. But it's all a ruse and Kirk hides Spock away in his quarters. Don't get shook—this does not give anything away.

I loved the moment when Kirk reveals he's in love with Spock. And I also enjoyed the revelation that Kirk loves "real" books and entrusts Spock with this secret and Spock takes it to heart. Really neat

Some really good stuff like Kirk realizing what his life in the Empire would be like without Spock except that most of these terrific emotions are narrated to us instead of hearing them from Kirk. But I did love Kirk watching Spock while he slept.

There is a drop-dead sexy scene where Kirk masturbates while thinking of Spock. I especially enjoyed the use of the "bunched up comer of the sheeting"— goodness!—just the thought of that makes me very happy.

So then, Erica! What's the problem? You lead us merrily towards what promises to be totally hot sex with lines like: "He lay there helpless, fully exposed." And 'The human lay completely vulnerable to the Vulcan's whim." And then...that's that! Hey! Forget cut-to-the-crashing-waves! There wasn't a wave in sight! This was "Afterwards they..." Afterwards? After what? What about during?

Sorry I got all excited—it's just that the set-up for a terrific sex scene was all in place and then...rats. [1]
