Summaries

In DAYBREAK Catherine survives, but has lost her way. As she struggles to understand the unfamiliar world in which she has awakened, her loved ones Above and Below mourn her "death." Vincent, unconsolable and unable to accept such a devastating loss, becomes convinced that Catherine is alive. To the horror of his family and friends, Vincent risks everything - his safety, his sanity, and his life - to find his beloved Catherine and bring her home.

DAYBREAK -- FROM SHADOWS INTO LIGHT explores the beliefs and emotions of people coping with tragedy and its terrible aftermath. It is a story of devotion that blends memories and dreams, mystery and danger, sorrow and joy.

For your further information, the zine is rated PG and is 153 single-spaced pages; there are no illustrations. In addition to Vincent and Catherine, the principal characters are Father, Peter Alcott, and someone new named David Marsden. Many other old favorites make frequent appearances. Gabriel is mentioned; Diana docs not exist; and since the "consummation scene" has not yet occurred, "Baby Jacob" is still a distant dream. [1]

Daybreak - From Shadows into Light is based on the general premises set forth in "Though Lovers Be Lost", with the following exceptions: Vincent and Catherine have not yet experienced a physical consummation of their love and therefore, a child has not been conceived. Since there is no child, Vincent does not need to seek help in finding him; thus Diana Bennett also ceases to exist here. The story begins five weeks after Catherine's abduction, just days before she will be found by police in an abandoned building. [2]

PG rated, offering an alternative to 3rd season. Vincent knows his beloved Catherine lives. Join him as he risks everything to bring her home. DAYBREAK is a story of mystery, romance, and devotion - with a guaranteed happy ending! [3]

Reactions and Reviews

This excellent book by the author of "Beyond Beginnings", is now out of print, but if enough of us enquire [sic] about its re-release I am sure Linda will put it back on the market. This is a true Vincent and Catherine story for lovers of true romance and a happy life for our lovers, it's a book that should not be kept from true Vincent and Catherine believers. [4]

An SND novel in which amnesiac Catherine has been kept by autopsy surgeon David Marsden to replace his beloved dead daughter. Marsden has convinced Catherine she's his niece, Claire. Vincent spends the time of Catherine's absence in progressive psychological collapse. There's no mention of Jacob.". [5]

This novel is based on TLBL but differs in significant ways, chiefly in that Catherine and Vincent have yet to consummate their love and Diana Bennett does not exist in this alternate version. Catherine is abducted and presumed dead but Vincent believes otherwise and risks everything to find her. Gabriel is mentioned. [6]
