Turned a Fan onto "Beauty and the Beast"

From a fan named Dawn Gilbert in Remember the Magic, a Beauty and the Beast (TV) con zine:

I am one of the rare birds who actually knew about Beauty and the Beast before it even aired and watched it from the first episode, and I learned about it from the most unlikely source of all: a Star Trek convention, and from the most unlikely person of all: the penultimate Star Trek fan. Yes, and I’ll admit it. I'm a trekkie, trekker, or whatever we are calling ourselves these days.

Denver used to have two Star Trek conventions every year, and back then Dave McDonnell the editor of Starlog magazine and penultimate Star Trek fan always did a talk about anything Science Fiction or Fantasy (since there wasn't that much back then) that was happening in the movie or TV industry. Dave had just been to a press screening of the pilot of Beauty and the Beast, and said besides Star Trek: The Next Generation which was also airing that fall, that if we watched no other TV show come fall we should watch this one.

Now I’m not a Fantasy person at all. I love Science Fiction: however. I do love Disney which is nothing but fairs tales. And Dave waxed on so about how this was simply one of the most original and well-done pilots he had seen in a long time that I thought it was a show I simply couldn’t miss.
