Darrin Stephens is a main character in Bewitched. He is the mortal husband of witch Samantha, working as an account executive at the advertising firm McMann & Tate. He was portrayed by two actors: Dick York (Seasons 1-5) and Dick Sargent (Seasons 6-8).

Darrin Switch
In 1969, Dick York, the actor portraying Darrin, suffered a back injury. He was forced to leave the show and was replaced by Dick Sargent from Season 6 onward. This change was sometimes referred to as the "Darrin Switch" or "The Other Darrin" by the fandom.
Fans often debate which actor was better in the role, with Dick York frequently being considered the universal fan favorite. The show never provided an in-universe explanation for the switch, leading some fanfiction writers to create their own explanations for the change. For example, fanfic writer Arfies wrote that the reason was due to a nymph known as "Grover the Morph".
The show must go on, for whatever reason. The (in)famous "Darrin Switch" is most remembered for completely changing the looks, attitude, and actor of the male lead with no explanation. (It was all part of an elaborate spell cast on the male descendants of Grover the Morph by wood nymphs and- oh, never mind, just pop over to Fan Fiction).[1]
