Dark Shadows Play is a m/m slash Dark Shadows fanfiction novel by Shadowsplay. The story is about the transformative power of love, and is at times tender and romantic, fierce and explicit.
The main characters are Barnabas Collins and Willie Loomis. The story includes some details of their lives from the canon Dark Shadows universe, including Barnabas Collins' vampirism and Willie Loomis' role as his servant. The story creates a slash, BDSM relationship between these two characters, in which Barnabas is dominant and Willie is submissive. Willie could not know how much Barnabas needed him, thinking of him, picturing his skin taut and ripe, the blood and rhythm released by bite or instrument, pooling and caking in the concave places of his body where Barnabas played in it with his mouth and tongue, running and slipping over the edges of him in lovely patterns of black scarlet, the aroma rising as a viscous cloud of plasma and iron as the blood touched the air.[2]
Barnabas was aware of the scent of Willie's breath returning from perfect intimacy with the blood in his lungs. He pictured Willie bound and helpless, needing only love and mercy, chastened by pain for being so beautiful, and by taking the pain, made more beautiful still.[3]
