Reactions and Reviews

[This story] is what might be called a speculative exercise, and a mind-stretcher. Although it is well-written, I found the reasons given for Spock's punishment of Kirk to be totally unbelievable. [1]

This story's strength is its raw dramatic intensity, but there are serious problems with the premise. I refuse to believe that raping the perpetrator of rape wipes out the crime. I find it difficult to imagine that Spock wouldn't have felt traumatized by his victimization. He's much too logical about the situation. Most of K/S is based on the concept that Vulcans are extremely emotional beings hiding behind a veneer of logic. Without this concept of Vulcans. I don't see how K/S can work. So the plot of this story makes no sense to me. I also wonder how Jane defines a link and what sort of link Spock had with T'Pring since we are told that they shared no thoughts. [2]
