Reactions and Reviews
1996
Another delightful short-short story by the author who's a master at them. This one is a series of letters between Spock and Amanda, starting with Kirk's arrival on the Enterprise, and culminating with their bonding and Amanda being sent a special gift. I loved both Amanda's use of the p'tom'pie jelly as she tries to "set up" Spock with various individuals, and her queries about the tribbles. The story is united by her gift in the beginning and Spock's gift in the end. Nice, neat, well-written, made me smile. The only problem is the same one that everybody voices with Karla Kelly's stories. It's too short! [1]
Lively, fun Kelly signature story told in a series of letters between Spock and Amanda.
Some highlights include Spock's response to his mother's questioning in a typical mother-type concern if her son is getting enough to eat. "My nutritional intake is adequate for my body height and weight." And I loved the name of the Tribble — "Kiss".
Very enjoyable. I have come to depend on Karla Kelly for neat, fun and interesting stories. [2]
