Kirk plays a game of control with Spock where they both win! Another adorable short story by Nefertari who is becoming the Karla Kelly of K/S. (For those of you who may not be familiar with the K/S author Karla Kelly—she wrote many very short stories which became her signature over many years. And by the way, this is a compliment! Kelly’s stories have always been delightful. We are wondering what she’s doing. Karla—where are you?) [1]
I couldn't seem to dispense with my disbelief long enough to enjoy this story. The picture of Spock engaging in any type of physical or mental (beyond the emergency "need to meld for the sake of the ship/mission/crew" type of meld) intimacy in a public place just didn't fit with my interpretation of his character.
