Colonial Con was a Battlestar Galactica (1978) con and was intended to be a very intimate event.

an early flyer lists the original date

It was held June 21-23 1985 at the Tidewater Inn in Easton, Maryland, which is far away from the usual hubs of convention activity.

The Guest of Honor was Richard Hatch, who played Captain Apollo on the original Battlestar Galactica and who would later guest star on the more recent show of the same name.

The program book (bottom left, with unicorns) had a cover drawn in pencil, with interior illustrations and a large number of photographs. Apparently Richard liked unicorns.

Con memberships came with a special room rate and meals. Attendees were encouraged to dress up for dinners.

The con chair was J.R. Janoski, the West Coast chair was Jaimi Sorrell, the East Coast chair was Cindy Lewis, the Video Program was by John Flynn, and the Operations Officer was Leslie Ann Rous.

The Program Book

The cartoons were by Don Lewis. The "Richard Hatch: A Retrospective" was by Cheryl A. Dubuque. The photography stills were from Capatin Hawk of the Silver Spar Squadron. The trivia contest questions ("Colonial Pursuit") were compiled by Beth Finchler. The front cover was by Barbara Walker

Con Reports

Richard sat with various attendees during Saturday night's dinner (he missed Friday because he stole 5 dozen chocolate chip cookies my best friend had made to share with everyone, ate half of them and became VERY ill). Saturday night included filksinging by Cindy Lewis, a short masquerade, and a dance party. The Mayor of Easton also attended--this may have been the one and only science fiction convention ever to be held in Easton! [1]
