Reactions and Reviews

This is another very well written first time story with a wonderfully romantic feel to it. I must admit that I’m not normally too keen on holiday stories but this one was an exception and creates a wonderfully warm and romantic atmosphere. It was also a nice change of pace to see them enjoying some down time away from the ship, where they are able to just relax and enjoy each other’s company rather than having to cope with all the various crises which seem to crop up with unfailing regularity on board the ship.

Kirk decides to invite Spock to spend the Christmas holidays with him in a remote cabin whilst at the same time he is determined not to reveal his feelings of attraction to Spock. However, his world is turned completely upside down once they arrive, when Spock takes the initiative and starts to quite openly seduce Kirk much to his amazement. I especially like the way in which Spock takes such care in this particular story to provide Kirk with the best possible holiday and a setting which he will enjoy in which to reveal his so far hidden feelings. He has obviously done a great deal of research about Christmas customs on Earth in order to get things right exactly including their trip to find the perfect specimen of a Christmas tree, not to mention his choice of presents for Kirk, as well as those from their fellow crew members back on the ship. Kirk’s reaction to seeing Spock wearing his gift is truly priceless as is what happens afterwards, especially the method Spock uses to finally reveal his hidden feelings to Kirk whose astonishment and joy when he realises his own feelings are reciprocated after all is wonderfully described.

This particular story is also considerably enhanced by the wonderful piece of artwork which accompanies it, depicting Spock with bare feet, wearing only a pair of very sexy black pyjamas, kneeling beside a very nicely decorated Christmas tree holding a brightly wrapped gift (I assume its for Kirk) – a lovely piece of eye candy by anyone’s standards![1]

Wow. Wow!! The first I saw of this story was while I was flipping through the newly arrived zine to look at the art (LOC’d elsewhere). I stopped dead in my tracks when the pages fell open to Spock in a pair of black pajamas, barefooted and looking as sexy as anything I’ve seen in my life. I don’t know which came first, the image or the story, but one is every bit as alluring as the other and both are amazingly erotic!

But let’s get to the story (if I can tear my eyes away from the picture). It’s a cabin story, and I happen to like cabin stories, but this one is in a class by itself. Exceptionally well written, it is very obviously done by an author who knows and loves the characters. They are impeccable, enchanting and irresistible. Kirk is so afraid he will show his full blown desire for Spock while they are enclosed within four cozy walls for two weeks that he fails to notice he is being slowly and expertly seduced! I love this! I enjoyed so much “watching” them lounging in front of the fire sipping hot cocoa, tromping through the snow in search of the perfect evergreen specimen and Spock’s wholehearted acceptance of the Christmas tradition. I thoroughly enjoyed Kirk’s growing physical discomfort as he rapidly lost control of not only the situation but his body’s responses. A nice shower scene relieved this to some degree but only sharpened his desire. And the cabin became smaller and smaller. Then Kirk walked into the room and saw Spock in those clingy, black silk pajamas. If there is anyone who could resist that sort of enticement they bear no resemblance to James T. Kirk, who suddenly decided this is not a holiday, it is torture! Did you ever try to put a tree in a stand and get it straight? Spock does. This is but one example of what makes this such an endearing account.

Christmas morning arrives, and with it the thrill of expectancy, the warmth of a fire and a down comforter, the joy of knowing you are loved, and mistletoe. Ahhhh, tradition. What black silk pajamas have failed to accomplish has been achieved by a simple sprig of parasitic foliage. The most wonderful gift one soul can give another is revealed in all its complexity and simplicity in the following love scene. Maybe I shouldn’t have told you it would go this far, but these men are not made of celluloid, you know. They are flesh and blood, and fall victim to it in one of the more prolonged and passionate love scenes I’ve read in a long while. Don’t miss this remarkably good K/S – it and the artwork are well worth the price of the zine! [2]
