Reactions and Reviews
1994
A bold and divinely sexy story. And fine, clean writing; well-chosen, impactful words. Another unique scenario by this author. I was drawn in right away by the focus on Mirror Uhura. In the dark observation lounge, Spock joins her and they speak of the love they saw or sensed in the other universe; whereas love is a subversion in their own. A splendidly intense moment, and then the Captain comes in... A really fine, very gracefully executed three-way sex scene, she panted, more, more, don't stop...In this dangerous universe, Uhura feels there is no question but that she will be killed for this subversion, and so she gives in —allows her passion, her desire. She desires both of them —of course!
Then Kirk and Spock are all for each other, and Uhura, watching, sheds tears for the exquisiteness of their love. She hopes for the same for her own life, or if not, that she can find a way to stay included in their love.... Yes.
I wouldn't have minded seeing this scenario in modified-Mirror, with one or two of our characters in the Mirror universe or one of two Mirror characters in ours. The way it was written here allowed for it to be no-holds-barred, which was exauisite, but it also would have been fascinating with one of "our" characters as a sort of point of reference, so we could relate a bit more easily. That aside, I sure can't complain about this story! [1]
