What would have happened if Jim and Blair had made slightly different choices?

Reactions and Reviews

Blair is working at Choices, a suicide prevention hotline, when who should call but a newly-online sentinel who is considering ending it all. The AU covers the events of the series from the pilot through David Lash. This is one of my favorite AUs, primarily because of the way the relationship between Jim and Blair changes due to the different circumstances of their meeting. Unlike in canon, where Blair is the supplicant, Jim does all of the chasing in Choices and the alteration in their relationship is fascinating and really nice to see. Blair is more confident, Jim is nicer, and frankly their relationship is far more healthy than in 99% of fanfic *or* canon. A wonderful change of pace.[1]

I adore this story so much, I reread it frequently.

I love how in this tale, Jim is chasing/seducing Blair and not vice versa.

Basically Jim has come closer to the edge before they get together, he's verging on suicide, so he is more aware of how much he owes to Blair and how Blair has basically saved his whole life.

Blair is running scared of the commitment/need of the sentinel/guide bond and Jim has to win/woo him.

I love Larry in this story and how he completes their "family".

Its just a beautiful, heart-tugging romantic story, one of the best ever fanfiction pieces written for the Sentinel, and well worth the read.[2]

Blair is a suicide hotline counselor, and one day he answers a call that changes his life as he knew it. It's not a dreary as it sounds. Sure, there's some serious matter in there, but this fic is action-packed, and Jim and Blair have a sort of chemistry that had me smiling every time they interacted with each other. Oh, and Larry the Barbary ape makes an appearance, too! [3]
