Summary

"Spock says nothing about his increasing attraction to Kirk when both are invited to Vulcan by Spockʼs parent in an attempt to find him a new bondmate after his aborted pon farr."

Reactions and Reviews

Reading this was part of my exploration of an older zine—a bit of a nostalgic trip. As with most trips down memory lane, the road was not exactly as remembered. Unlike some earlier entries, there was no question of whether this was K/S. It was the traditional Pon Farr story of those days—more of a rape than anything else. The sex was forced, prolonged, painful for Kirk and less than enjoyable for a Spock blinded by Plak Tow.

There was, however, no mean-spirited resentment by either man, simply acceptance for what must be, but neither was there resolution. They managed to remain friends while desperately seeking to find themselves in a world apart from each other. It's an interesting study that explores both men's reactions while keeping them very true to the figures we knew on-screen.

Time works in their favor, bringing them to the conclusion that the only way they'll ever find true satisfaction is with each other.[1]
