Reception and meta

Charmander is the fire starter from the first generation of Pokémon. Charmander was a very popular Pokémon back when the game and the anime were first launched in western countries. This was due to his design as a little cute dragon, which evolves into a bigger and more powerful looking one, with wings. Charizard, Charmander's final evolution, was featured in the box of the Pokémon Red game, contributing to the popularity of Charmander and its evolutions. Nowadays, and despite the release of more than one thousand different Pokémon, Charmander is still a very popular Pokémon. Old fans remember it with fondness while still being popular with newer generations of fans. Charmander still features in a lot of merchandising and promo material of the franchise.
