Category talk:Tropes & Genres
I think a conversation needs to be had about the use of Tropes and Genres subcategories. While Category:Merlin AU (a subcategory of Merlin Fanfiction, crosslisted under Merlin Tropes & Genres) contains only pages about individual fanfics, the other subcategories under "Tropes & Genres" contain general trope/genre pages, not pages about individual fanworks. Because Daemon AU is listed directly under "Tropes & Genres", I would expect to find daemon related tropes there, not individual fanworks. Since Daemon AUs are their own thing, it doesn't really make sense to have this as a category at all--there would only ever be one page. On the other hand, a general "Alternate Universe" category for various AU types would make sense. If Fanlore wants to categorize pages about individual fics by their genre, some standardized organization would be helpful--creating a container category like "Fanworks by Tropes & Genres" to start.--aethel (talk) 02:31, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
