Why is "Stargate Characters" a subcategory of Stargate SG-1 when it's for characters in all of the Stargate universe?--æthel 13:56, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- Because otherwise there is no way to find the Stargate SG-1 characters when you start browsing from Category:Stargate SG-1. ETA: An alternate solution would be to make a separate Category:Tok'ra Symbionts for the circa 20 pages about snakes and their consensual body-sharing with a human. --Doro 14:23, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- I like the second idea, although I wonder if someone will want to add Goauld characters as well. Maybe a Stargate Alien Characters category?--æthel 14:39, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think there is a need to split up the earth born characters and the alien characters, like for example Teal'c. These characters are all human. The thing about the Tok'ra pages is that they aren't about the human hosts, they are about the alien symbionts. Also, if it were a Stargate Alien Character catergory, you would have the same problem with crosslinking it with the Stargate SG-1 category. --Doro 16:18, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- yeah, I'd want to leave Teal'c in the main character category. How about Category:Stargate Symbionts to include the goauld? --æthel 16:31, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- There are no Goa'uld pages and Stargate symbionts gives a wrong impression that I can't really explain. Sounds too much like Star Trek? My point is that this needs to be subcategory of Stargate SG-1. If not, I don't see why the Tok'ra shouldn't remain in the regular Stargate characters category with a crosslink to the Stargate SG-1 category. --Doro 16:37, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- Tok'ra Symbionts does have a nicer ring to it. My concern is that if some SG-1 characters (the Tok'ra) appear only in the Stargate Characters subcategory, while others appear in both "Stargate Characters" and "Stargate SG-1", new editors coming along will not be able to figure out what the category rule is.--æthel 17:13, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- I see your point. The rule could be that "main characters" get the characters cat and the fandom cat but Tok'ra Symbionts works for me too. I just wanted to get all those Tok'ra's out of the main Stargate SG-1 category because they were overshadowing everything else in that cat. --Doro 17:24, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, I've switched the category on all the Tok'ra character pages and cross-listed the category under Stargate Characters and Stargate SG-1 where it should be easy to find and self-explanatory. It occurred to me after the fact that the category could have been named Category:Tok'ra Characters instead, but I'll leave it for now.--æthel 18:55, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- I think "Tok'ra Characters" is something I would more associate with the hosts (for example Martouf instead of Lantash). --Doro 19:00, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
