Reactions and Reviews

"Catching a Wild Goose" is a five page story. I'll confess that I really didn't follow the logic of this story toward the end. But anything goes in science fiction. This story is set after the movie Generations, but how far after I do not know. It has been 119 years since Spock first met Kirk. Someone more versed in Star Trek and Star Trek: the Next Generation can pinpoint that better. I'm too lazy to look it up in one of my Star Trek books. Oh, I cheated. In the back of the zine it says this is after Generations and Unification, sometime in the future. I like this story, despite not quite understanding the actual mechanics of the plotline. This story also has Deanna Troi and her husband Captain Will Riker, and it takes place on their ship the Titan. Kirk is very much a part of the story in Spock's mind, despite being dead. [1]

Oh, this is nice. Unlike many others, I am fascinated with the events and possibilities set in place by “Generations”, and am always eager to read new theories on what the future might hold for Kirk and Spock under this umbrella. Being familiar with TNG helps, but whether or not you watched that series is really unimportant. What is important is seeing inside those bleak years Spock spent without his soulmate after Kirk sacrificed himself to duty. I found this a very touching story, full of hope. [2]
