Reactions and Reviews

A quiet, gentle short story of Kirk waking up in bed with Spock. Some really lovely images and beautiful language as he contemplates Spock’s beauty and the joy of being in love with the Vulcan. There was so much to enjoy, but these are particularly lovely: “Breathing deeply, I bring to my now fully awakened senses the early morning scent of my companion.” And: “The aristocratic face, the end product of centuries of breeding and noble blood. Deep dark eyes, fathomless in depth, sometimes hard and black with fire in their depths, sometimes warm brown pools, mirroring his emotions even in an impassive face.” And: “I can not forget his taste, my mind recalls kisses, hot and sweet.” I love how the author focuses on taste and smell for Kirk’s experience of being with Spock. Very beautiful. [1]
