Brenda Leigh Johnson/Sharon Raydor is a femslash pairing in The Closer fandom. It is a non-canonical pairing that frequently follows the progression of enemies to fiends to lovers.

Based on June 2016 filter counts, it is The Closer's most popular pairing on both FanFiction.Net and Archive of Our Own.[1][2] Although Brenda's character does not appear in Major Crimes, a spinoff of The Closer, the pairing can be found in that fandom as well.

Canon Overview

Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson is the head of the Los Angeles Police Department's Major Crimes Division, and Captain Sharon Raydor is the head of the department's Force Investigation Division. They meet under hostile circumstances in the show's fifth season, with Sharon investigating a police shooting involving a member of Brenda's division, and the hostility between them continues when they must run overlapping investigations of a police shootout with members of a white supremacist gang. Following their third meeting, in which they investigate a situation involving a member of Sharon's division, they conclude they "just don't like each other."

However, in the sixth season, Sharon encourages a reluctant Brenda to apply for the position of Chief of Police, stating that she "will feel very proud to have a Chief that I can truly admire," and by the end of the season, Brenda introduces Sharon to her parents as "my Captain Raydor. I mean, my friend, Captain Sharon. I mean my friend, Sharon Raydor."

That friendship is tested in the seventh and final season, when Brenda and her division become the subject of a lawsuit and the new Chief of Police tasks Sharon with a transparency audit of Brenda's division. Brenda takes Sharon's role in the audit personally, saying, "So much for us being friends." When the chief suddenly dies, Sharon tries to get out of performing the audit, telling the replacement chief, "My relationship with Chief Johnson is already complicated." However, Sharon ultimately resumes the audit and becomes Brenda's ally during the lawsuit.
