Blood & Water is a 2020 South African teen crime drama following Puleng Kumalo, who transfers to a prestigious school in Cape Town as part of her ongoing search for her sister, Phume, who was abducted as a baby. Blood & Water is one of a number of Netflix series set in elite or prestigious schools – the others being Elite, Class, and AlRawabi School for Girls – and as well as shared elements, there have been a few crossovers specifically between Blood & Water and Elite. This suggests the shows are broadly considered to be within the same universe.

Blood & Water was well-received and fannish discussions popped up in various social media spaces; edits are fairly popular on TikTok and discussions often take place in the comments sections of these edits. On Tumblr, screen caps and discussions are more popular, along with a small number of other fanworks, while episode discussions and reactions are more common on Reddit, Facebook (where a popular group exists), and Twitter. There seems to be very little fanfiction for the show as of March 2024.
Pairings
Familiar and platonic pairings are often commonly discussed, especially considering the central storyline of Puleng trying to find out what happened to her sister.
