Black Mirror is a British science-fiction anthology series that is known for its dark, often satirical plots. Its first two series (and the Christmas special) aired on Channel 4; series three and on are exclusively available on Netflix.

The creator, Charlie Brooker, says about the show: "Each episode has a different cast, a different setting, even a different reality. But they're all about the way we live now – and the way we might be living in 10 minutes' time if we're clumsy."[1]

Black Mirror currently has six series and an interactive film called Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, as well as a theme park attraction called Black Mirror: Labyrinth.

Fandom

Though the show is critically acclaimed, the Black Mirror fandom is extremely small. As of the end of series three, its fandom was largely femslash.[2] This was due to the Emmy-award-winning episode San Junipero, which gave rise to the fandom OTP at the time, Kelly/Yorkie. Another notable femslash pairing is Blue Coulson/Karin Parke from "Hated in the Nation". Black Mirror has since become a predominantly slash fandom after the release of Bandersnatch, with the primary relationship becoming slash pairing Stefan Butler/Colin Ritman.[3] Black Mirror also provides half of a Kylux adjacent pairing, Ash Starmer from "Be Right Back", who is played by Domhnall Gleeson and frequently paired with Paterson from Paterson (2016).
