Beleg is a famous border guard of Doriath who was killed by his best friend Túrin in a tragic accident.
Canon

Beleg befriended Túrin as soon as the boy came to reside in Doriath, and they remained close as he grew up. After Túrin left Thingol's realm in anger, Beleg followed him into exile and together they fought the enemy for a while.
Ultimately, Túrin was responsible for Beleg's death. He had been taken captive, and as Beleg sought to free him in the dark, Túrin mistook him for one of his captors, and seized his sword to kill him. He regretted this act bitterly, and it was with the same sword, Anglachel, that Túrin took his own life many years later.
