Beastars is a manga series written and illustrated by Paru Itagaki. It has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Champion while an anime television series was adapted by Orange and was licensed by Netflix.

Canon

Beastars takes place in a version of the modern world where anthropomorphic animals form the entirety of society. The main conflict revolves around a cultural divide between carnivores and herbivores. The herbivores live in fear that the carnivores will eat them while the carnivores face discrimination for any indulgence in their natural instincts such as eating meat or acting aggressively.

The story follows the grey wolf Legosi [1] as he navigates the world, dealing with his confusion over his predator instincts and his growing attraction to a dwarf rabbit girl named Haru as well as the political situation in the school following the death of a herbivore student at the hands of a carnivore.
