Some Excerpts

[I've been a fan of Starsky & Hutch] ever since the show was first on, I guess. But since I live in Holland this means it was sometime during the Eighties, since that was the first time it was on Dutch television.

I was walking through this DVD store when I saw the 'Starsky & Hutch season one' DVD. It was funny, because I had completely forgotten about that show. But the moment I saw the cover I remembered scenes of Hutch trapped under a car, Starsky being poisoned, and Hutch crying. And I recalled that I actually taped the show back then, because those scenes (even though I was still a child at the time) really got to me. I bought the DVD and got hooked all over again.

Looking back now, I realize I started writing fanfic when I was a child. Only I didn't recognize it as such. I just wrote little missing scenes and 'what ifs' to shows I liked. It was when I discovered the internet that I found out I wasn't the only one with these writing urges! I was already writing 'Soul Bonded' by then. It's not the first S&H story I posted, but it is the first I wrote. I guess my inspiration came from watching the kind of bond S&H have, and wanting to see how far I could push their friendship, how deep it really ran. Taking it just that one step further without going into the realm of slash, really was a challenge.

I get new story ideas mainly from real life, or from television and occasionally from a dream I had. My muse is constantly looking for possible story plot and such. I always carry pen and paper for when my muse decides to strike. As for keeping it fresh, the main thing for me is to relax. If I'm all tensed up I can't write. I need that little peace and quiet in my mind to get inspired.

Getting feedback really improves my writing. Constructive feedback that is. Even if it's negative. I know when people read stories they don't always review, but it would really help if they do. It's a shame that there are also people out there who make it their sole purpose to flame a story, and can cause people to stop writing. My advice is to ignore them and keep writing what you want to write. The most positive feedback in this fandom I received is on 'Soul Bonded'. When someone emails you that your story helped them through a difficult period in their life it really lifts your spirit, makes me feel all warm inside!

I've written some in the Stargate fandom and still attend the occasional convention in London, but right now I'm mostly involved in the Doctor Who fandom. Whovians, they call us. Still, Starsky and Hutch are never far away!
