Some Excerpts

Okay, I guess if I have to choose between the two, I would have to say Starsky. Why? Because his name is mostly all on the left side of my keyboard. No, I'm kidding! I just like the way he works his character. It's so believable. Of course, Hutch is too, but Starsky had such a sad background and upbringing (according to fandom) and he overcame it to be where he is. That takes a lot of courage and determination. Oh, can you tell by my stories that I'm a Starsky-fiend?

I've actually been writing fanfic for a long time. I started writing MacGyver fic years ago and have also dabbled in some Stargate SG-1, Due South and Beauty and the Beast fiction as well as Starsky & Hutch. I started writing S&H fic about three years ago. I guess I started writing because the DVD's came out in conjunction with that... movie. My first "real" story was "Back In The World" and I wrote it in memory of my cousin who died during his second tour in Vietnam.

It's strange this beta reader thing. I tried several different ladies, but they were all too busy to help out, which I completely understand. Actually my stories sat around for a couple years just waiting on someone to beta them, then one day I decided that I would simply do the best I could. So I did a spell check (the most important feature on your computer!) and re-read the stories for blatant errors several times before posting them as-is. In fact I had a hard time even finding someone who would post them!

I don't have season 4 (you lucky Europeans!) [1] and I really don't like to write "canon" stories, with the exception of the regular characters, etc. I've even moved them into a beach house so that there isn't an issue of mistaking which apartment I'm supposed to be using. I have no clue which address they used in season 4 for the guy's apartments, so I play it safe to write stories post-"Sweet Revenge". Besides, my muse tells me what to write and who am I to tell her any differently?

Oh man, I started out writing one cute story about this pair of identical twin Feds meeting the guys on the beach. Then, they save the day by protecting Starsky and Hutch. Then, wouldn't you know it, I'm staying up until two and three o'clock in the morning because the rollercoaster is on a roll and ain't nobody at the switches! I acutally cheered when "A Fairytale Ending" was finished. Of course, with it being two o'clock in the morning, my husband wasn't so understanding!

I've got a slew of stories that are waiting for my muse to get it together and finish them. I have one that is a crossover between Beauty & the Beast and S&H. It was a bit difficult to get the timeline just right, if you know anything about B&tB, you know that the series started in '87, so in order to get all the characters together, S&H have to be quite a bit older. Unfortunately it's kind of like "Twin Speak" and is growing larger by the day. It's called "Above and Below" and may end up having to be a series or not at all. I'm not too sure how many folks even remember Vincent and Catherine.
