Astrid Caine, a.k.a. Astrid Boötes writes predominantly Starsky/Hutch, Quantum Leap (Sam/Al) and Supernatural (Destiel).

She started writing fanfiction in 1990 in Quantum Leap slash fandom. and published many short stories and several novellas, including Soul Mates (published by Quantum Fire Press), in the 1990s

In the mid-1990s, she started in Starsky/Hutch fanfiction.

Beginning in 2015 and onward, she started writing Supernatural slash fanfiction.

Notable Works

• Soul Mates, won a STIFfie Award in 1995 for best novel in Quantum Leap fandom. The novel focused on the AU in the Alpha Universe where Sam Beckett doesn't know Al Calavicci. He gets to know Al in the Leap For Lisa (Episode 4x22 of the TOS Quantum Leap series) exchange with our universe's Sam. Sam goes on a difficult search for Al Calavicci in his own universe.
• Regarding Starsky is a Alternate Universe story, taking Omegaverse into the S/H fandom. The story involves gender politics, alternate reality 1970s worldbuilding and all the Omegaverse you can stuff into the mundane lives of Starsky and Hutch.
• If Not Now, When? is a tear-jerker winter season S/H story. Shortly after Hutch's wife dies in 2014, Starsky comes to stay with Hutch in Duluth. This is an original timeline Starsky/Hutch story that speculates what could have happened to keep Starsky and Hutch apart for decades after the series ends, and still be a slash story.

Blanket Permission

In 2024, Astrid gave the following blanket permission: "Blanket permission for non-commercial remix, podfic, translation, art or fanvid creations or secondary fanwork creations of any of my fanworks, including new works in my universes. Please credit Astrid Caine."
