Ash Tyler is a main character in the show Star Trek: Discovery.
Canon
Ash Tyler claimed to be a prisoner of the Klingons for seven months. He escapes with Gabriel Lorca, to the USS Discovery, where he becomes their Chief of Security. Tyler is haunted by his time as a prisoner of the Klingon L'Rell, and seeks help from Dr. Hugh Culber. Hugh discovers that Tyler's skeletal structure has been surgically altered. He suspects that Tyler is not who he claims to be. In response Voq's personality takes over, and kills Dr. Culber.
Voq is a pale-skinned Klingon who underwent an extreme surgery to look human. His memories and DNA were spliced with those of Lieutenant Ash Tyler. A further surgery was performed to merge the two personalities.
