Azumane Asahi/Nishinoya Yuu, also known as AsaNoya, is the slash pairing of Azumane Asahi and Nishinoya Yuu in the Haikyuu fandom.

Canon

When Nishinoya is introduced, he states that he will not come back to the team without Asahi. In a flashback that takes place before Hinata joins the team, Asahi and Noya have an argument about Asahi's desire to stop playing after Karasuno lost to Date Tech. This was due to Asahi's tendency to blame himself for the team's loss, and Noya's frustration that Asahi was giving up so easily.

Nishinoya often comforts and sticks up for Asahi when people say he doesn't have the "ace" presence.

They are consistently paired up in the eyecatch segments from the anime, one of which shows Asahi clapping happily when Noya manages to receive a ball he throws.

In Season 2 of the anime, during the Tokyo Training Camp arc, we see Noya trying to learn to do the "libero toss", seemingly so he can get better and help Asahi score more often.

Many things about their design and personalities are "opposite" and complimentary - the kanji used in their names, their birthdays, and positions on the team. Noya is boisterous and loud, while Asahi is nervous and shy.

History

This ship often shows up as a side pairing in fics, especially those focused on Karasuno. Because of its inclusion as a minor or background ship, it can be difficult to get accurate numbers for how prevalent it is.
