Art of Exorcism is a for-charity fanzine centered on the character Chongyun from Genshin Impact. At the end of the project, $1604.55 USD was donated to the charity Hope For Ukraine[1].

About

The interest check for this project was open from October 16-30, 2021[2]. Contributor apps opened November 1, 2021 and closed December 1, 2021[3].

After a series of polls[4], the zine Twitter account posted a story incorporating the winning answers, featuring Chongyun and Shenhe at a school cultural festival[5].

This zine and several other Liyue-character-focused zines (Cloudburst, Queen of the Night, Moments of Solitude, and Golden Rule) collaborated on a quiz event with the reward of a Welkin Moon (a 30-day Genshin Impact in-game paid currency subscription) giveaway for the winning team[6]. Signups for teams in the event were open from January 25, 2022 to February 1, 2022. Riddles were released from February 2-6, 2022, and the winner ended up being the Xingqiu zine, Moments of Solitude[7].

Preorders opened on March 12, 2022 with a scheduled end date of April 16, 2022[8], which was later extended to April 30, 2022[9]. The following pricing tiers were offered:

  • Spirit Blade ($13 USD): Digital Zine
  • Touch of Frost ($18 USD): Physical Zine + Foiled Talismans
  • Cloud and Wind ($30 USD): Physical Zine + Foiled Talismans + Prints + Stickers
  • Frozen Ardour ($45 USD): Physical Zine + Foiled Talismans + Prints + Stickers + Charms + Enamel Pin

The digital zine was available as an add-on to physical orders for $5 USD.

This project had three stretch goals: a foil upgrade for the prints at 50 orders, a pencil pouch at 100 orders, and a 3D spot UV cover upgrade at 150 orders[10]. The third and final stretch goal was unlocked on the last day of preorders[11].

The zine did a merch collaboration with the Moments of Solitude zine, where anyone who purchased physical bundles from both zine would receive matching king playing cards of Chongyun and Xingqiu[12].

Leftover sales opened September 18, 2022 with an announced closing date of October 15, 2022[13], which was later extended to November 10, 2022[14]. On November 10, 2022, they announced a discount code "FLASHFREEZE"[15]. Leftovers were officially announced closed on November 15, 2022[16].

On April 9, 2022, the zine Twitter account announced that the project's chosen charity would be Hope for Ukraine[17]. On December 10, 2022, the zine posted a screenshot of its donation to the charity and announced the project completed[18].
