Are Old Acquaintances Best Forgotten? is an adult themed Dark Shadows novella.
From an ad in The World of Dark Shadows #69/70: "A face from the past, a voice from the present. Together they lead Barnabas to a past secret life, best forgotten. Unfortunately the past won't forgive and it NEVER FORGETS!"
In an interview the author discussed how the novella had been received by the fan community: "...adult writing is often a matter of opinion, and what is 'fluff' to one person is "smut" to another. I don't know how you'd classify the sexual situations in my 'zine. I tried to be as tasteful as possible. The 'zine was read by three high school students, (without my knowledge until it was too late) who thought that the scenes were no worse than tilings they had seen on afternoon soap operas. On the other hand, I had a friend tell me it was 'filthy'." (from RESURRECTION OF THE VAMPIRE AND THE CREATION OF ALTERNATIVE LIFE: An Introduction to Dark Shadows Fan Culture by Harry M. Benshoff (Spectator Vol. 13.3 Summer 1993)
