It was printed in R&R #12 in 1980 where it has illos by Stefanie Hawks.

A Story With Many Inspirations!
The Author's Art Inspiration
"Editor's note: the story which follows was inspired by "Paradise in the Mirror," the illo by [Gayle F] 'storied' by Juanita Salicrup, in R&R X."

The Author Used a Word That "Belonged" to Another Fan
The story contains one sentence that another fan, Leslye Lilker, took issue with: "He slid the heavy wooden bar into place with ease, a slight feeling of relief at being secure in his own quarters within Valjn'd'jt."
Some context:
In 1978, the year before "And God Against All" was published, Leslye Lilker, author of the popular Sahaj stories, wrote a personal statement to Warped Space taking a fan, Karen Louis, to task:
I would also like to answer a question that has been cropping up frequently in my mail since the publication of THE SENSUOUS VULCAN. In this 'zine appears a story entitled "The Way of a Warrior" by Karen Lewis [sic]. The author has used "Valjn'd'jt", the name of Sarek's home in the Sahaj universe, despite a request not to. I am not Karen Lewis (a pseudonym).
I did read the story before publication, and, for my answer to "The Way of a Warrior", please read "Nivar to a Desert Rose" [by Juanita Salicrup], to appear in THE OTHER SIDE [#3]. [1]
While Karen had asked for permission from Lilker, and was led to understand it was Lilker's term, not all fans made that connection. Like Kraith and other popular fan-created universes, the Sahaj Universe spawned much fanon, and even the fans had a hard time keeping it straight.
In 1980, when Collette Mak used Leslye Lilker's term in "And God Against All," Johanna Cantor, editor of R&R, had to apologize. Cantor wrote:
In "And God Against All" In R&R XII, Collette Mak used the term, Valjn'd'jt, which is a term coined by Leslye Lilker for the Sahaj universe. Collette thought it was one of the usual terms in Treklit. I knew it was Leslye's, but I missed it. Both Collette and I apologize; the term is Leslye's, and our use of it was unauthorized. [2]
In August 2015, Leslye Lilker added to Fanlore:
Apologies to Collette Mak. 40 years ago I was a real jerk. I should have been honored that Collette thought enough of the term to use it. Besides, I didn't create it. It was given to me by Trinette Kern. The place is Val'jn'jt these days, and if you use it -- well, thanks. [3]
