Alexandre Dumas was a nineteenth-century French writer best known for his adventure novels, which are usually considered part of rarelit fandom. He is one of the most popular black authors, information that many are unaware of due to his images being whitewashed or your color has been omitted. His best known works are the d'Artagnan Romances (which include The Three Musketeers and The Man in the Iron Mask) and The Count of Monte Cristo.

Dumas's works have also inspired other fannish source texts, such as the manga and anime Gankutsuou (2004) and the television series Young Blades (2005).

In January 2014 BBC introduced a new series 'The Musketeers' roughly based on Dumas novels.
