After the Rain is a fan writer best known for her Harry Potter fanfiction.

She got into fandom after the publication of Order of the Phoenix in 2003 through the Chamber of Secrets Forums. In response to the question "How did you get into fanfic writing?" she wrote in 2006:

Canon withdrawl [sic], mostly. About four or five months after OotP was published, after everybody I knew had mostly settled down to discussing other things, I suddenly realized that I was obsessed with Harry Potter theories and I Had To Talk about them. Which led me to the CoS forums, after a few weeks of trial-and-error lurking on other boards.

[...] There was a thread at CoS dedicated to rewriting canon scenes from Snape's point of view, and I thought it looked like fun, so I jumped in. And then was very startled when people told me I was writing fanfic :)[2]

After the Rain was an administrator for the Godric's Hat discussion board, starting in July 2006.[3] She was also a member of omniocular, an invitation-only community for gen fic and art.

More recently, she has mainly written in the Vorkosigan fandom, especially for Captain Vorpatril's Alliance and the characters of Byerly Vorrutyer and Dono Vorrutyer.

An Author Review

"She writes with a dry but periodically hilarious tone and plots of the inevitable-in-hindsight variety. I'm particularly fond of The Adventures of Icarus the Invisible Poltergeist and Running Close to the Ground."[4]
