Such a majestic depth of feeling! Why did it have to be for only one page that I was allowed to absorb all this pain? Spock's terrible grief and remorse over injuring his captain at the Kalifee boils from the page like poison from a wound. But Kirk is there—to hold him close (ahhhhh) and to reassure without words. To love unconditionally. And that is what it's all about: this short story and the whole K/S genre. Love without conditions. [1]
