Reactions and Reviews

1997

This is an odd little 3-pager, told from the POV of a jellyfish. It's unusual, it's maybe not quite as well explained as it might be (but the writer knows that - "I am unable to explain how it happened"), but it's not a bit of fluff; it's a serious look at a serious problem, and while it could have been longer, I think Catherine was wise to keep it the length it is. I'd like to know more about this culture! [1]

I must confess that this story thoroughly confused me. I didn’t understand at all what was happening until I finished, and then I had to go back and re-read to figure it all out. It struck me as much more of an outline for a story than a genuine reading experience.

At the least, a scene from Kirk’s pov detailing his own dream was needed to flesh this story out, to make it meaningful to the reader.

However, it was definitely original, and the author has some really excellent descriptive abilities. Also, even short as it is, the story has a nice structure and build-up.[2]
