About Last Night is a Kirk/Spock Star Trek: TOS story by Roberta Haga.
It was published in the print zine Way of the Warrior #3.
Summary
"Kirk has a drunken talk with himself and then,on the spur of the moment, decides to act as if he and Spock are already lovers when Spock walks in."
Reactions and Reviews
This is a really funny story! Kirk has a talk with his "little voice" inside his head about how to seduce the Vulcan... He thinks he's smart, but Spock is of course just a bit smarter... A happy ending is inevitable! By the way, it's such a pity that Roberta Haga stopped writing. Her name was a guarantee for wonderful stories (my favorite: Velvet Deceptions!)! [1]
I must admit that this one gets full marks for originality if nothing else, although I did find myself enjoying it as well. Basically, Kirk decides that although he wants Spock to be his lover, he cannot take the risk of the Vulcan either refusing or even worse, losing his friendship as a result. So, Kirk being Kirk, he decides on a way so that he can have one night of passion with the Vulcan, by pretending to have amnesia, and convincing Spock that he genuinely believes that they were lovers before he lost his memory. One of the most intriguing things about this story is the way in which some of it is written to take the form of a conversation between Kirk and his mental "little voice" which is used to voice how he really feels emotionally, as opposed to how his command persona thinks he should behave. While away from the ship on shore leave he accidentally ends up with a slight bump on the head and this helps him decide that he is going to listen to his "little voice" and seduce the Vulcan in the hope that Spock will believe he is suffering from amnesia and mistakenly thinks they are lovers, so he can have at least one night of passion with Spock in such a way that afterwards if it all goes wrong, he will not be blamed and lose Spock's friendship. I won't spoil the story by revealing the outcome, but it was an enjoyable read and fully recommended. [2]
