Reactions and Reviews
1987
A Very Private Fire by D.A. Martin is... a shore leave story and is nice, but unremarkable. [1]
1989
The opening of this was a perfect K/S interpretation of a series-scene! Though the story is, basically, a simple Shore-Leave-Planet type scenario, there are some very good little bits that show how well the author knows the personalities of Kirk and Spock. For example, Kirk's thoughts/reaction to the "personal question" Spock asked him; and Spock "hoping to meditate away the pictures his much-denied imagination kept sending him". I also enjoyed Kirk's out-spoken frankness concerning the sex act, and Spock's shock, then acceptance of it. [2]
1998
Why should Spock take pride in not showing his joy in seeing Kirk? Is it a contest of “you hurt me. I hurt you” an emotional retaliation, totally human and at odds with a Vulcan, even a half Vulcan. Looking back, considering the series, the films, this is a facet of Spock’s personality as portrayed by this author. I can’t see it. [3]
