Reactions and Reviews

I found the parody, "A Time to Cry," worthy of any ST zine. Keep up the good work. [1]

"A Time to Cry" was hardly funny at all.[2]

"A Time to Cry", the parody of the intrepid crew (ha-ha) of the Seaview, was an excellent story, but only after having seen many episodes of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. I think the readers may have been a little confused by it. This story also raises the debatable question of whether or not ST zines should increase its boundaries. Personally, I feel the answer is no, at least not to intrinsically minor television series that only bordered on science-fiction. It is true that Voyage did tend to rely on Nelson's "atomic shoebox", but I'm not sure how many ST fans will know that. [More than you might think.-Ed.] [3]

"A Time to Cry" I liked except for the ending. Just because Trelane took Pern out for a hunt doesn't mean that it was over. I figured that the fop would come back and entertain Kirk and company. "Meeting at Xanadu" was pretty well done. I'd like to meet a character in a story that's interested in a time period other than our own, though, like the 21st or 22nd century. (I believe that ST is set in the 23rd,) But then I guess it's just too big a temptation to pass up and it doesn't really hurt the story.[4]
