A Surprising Day is a Kirk/Spock story by Karla Kelly.

Reactions and Reviews

A diplomatic mission; a quick look at a unique culture. Kirk and Spock are being entertained by the king and his (male) consort. I love the depiction of Kirk and Spock in the beginning being just two very close male friends, sharing the bathroom and showers casually. I could see no reason within the story for the scenario with Spock playing tak-cha ball with the king, and the game turning out to be rigged. Even though talk of this came up later, it didn't seem to have any connection with anything.

Kirk and Spock talking about the king and his consoa leads to a beautiful, intense moment. Spock says he knows Zar loves Lan because of the way he looks at him. Kirk says, how does he look at him? Spock says, the way you look at me. Oh god.

I might even call it corny-romantic, but I love it. the way they say their love as vows almost- Really beautiful.

I like this society, where the women have the right to demand pleasure from anyone at any time. I like Karla's female-specific pleasuring in her stories. Thank you. Lan and Zar pleasure her together, but Kirk and Spock split, quite other things on their minds. Lovely sex. Ah.... [1]
